After more than three years of dedicated service, Chair Tom Woodcock steps down to take up a new role with Pride in Place, Harpurhey.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we extend our sincere thanks to Tom for his outstanding leadership, commitment and contribution to the charity. His guidance has helped strengthen Step Up MCR’s mission and impact across Manchester, and we wish him every success in his new role.
The Board has appointed Chris Smith as Interim Chair. Having joined the Board earlier this year, Chris will work alongside fellow trustees to build on the strong foundations established under Tom’s leadership and support the charity’s continued growth. Chris is a proud Ancoats resident and brings extensive experience from the digital sector, having successfully built two agencies in Manchester.
Step Up MCR continues to go from strength to strength, with a renewed focus on expanding the impact of place-based giving across Manchester. Our current hyper-local focus supports communities in Ancoats & Beswick and Clayton & Openshaw. We also look forward to maintaining a positive relationship with Pride in Place as we continue working tolocal communitie and create lasting social impact.

About Pride in Place
Pride in Place is a new 10-year programme that puts community at the centre. The aim is to improve neighbourhoods by funding the things local people care about most. Manchester has been given funding from the UK Government’s Pride in Place programme, with five areas set for a £20 million investment. Areas include: Benchill South and Wythenshawe Central, Clayton Vale, Gorton South, Harpurhey South and Monsall, Moss Side West.
